Message of head department

The pharmacist is an active member of the medical team who provides medical care to the community members. The role of pharmacists is to ensure the correct and optimal medication is used in order to get better treatment outcomes.

The Department of Clinical Pharmacy has a major contribution to the teaching and training of students with different necessary skills. Several courses are taught in the department that includes an introduction to the profession of pharmacy, clinical pharmacy skills, pharmacy practice, pharmacokinetics, and therapeutic courses. After completing these courses, the student acquires skills necessary to follow up on the patient's treatment plan, ensure the correct use of the drug, follow up on possible drug interactions with other drugs or herbal products, and the skills necessary for effective communication with the patient and the medical team.

The virtual pharmacy lab in the department is used to teach and train students to deal with some hypothetical therapeutic cases that enable the student to simulate some basic pharmacy practices before training or clinical work in hospitals or community pharmacies. The department also includes a drug and Poisoning lab, which is used to teach students skills required to collect information about drugs or poison from reliable sources and then share them with the medical team.
