The department was established with the College of Pharmacy in 1427H, corresponding to 2006. Pharmaceutics is considered one of the most essential basic subjects in pharmaceutical sciences. The field of pharmaceutics is concerned with the science of designing, developing and manufacturing pharmaceutical preparations. It is also concerned with studying the optimal development of drug delivery methods to the human body and activating its effect.

The Department of Pharmaceutics teaches various courses, including physical pharmacy, industrial pharmacy, pharmacy and pharmacokinetics, design of pharmaceutical preparations and forms, pharmaceutical microbiology and other courses.
